University of Calgary Disabling Fatigue in Chronic Illness Conference

Drs.  Alison Bested and Lynn Marshall participated in this conference, which had Clinical Management, Research, and Public Information components. Dr. Bested spoke in the Clinical Management and Public Information segments and Dr. Marshall in the Research segment.

College of Family Physicians of Canada and Ontario College of Family Physicians Family Medicine Forum 2008

Dr. Lynn Marshall presented on Health and the Environment: Children are Not Little Adults at a plenary session, and collaborated on a workshop Practical Pointers for Protecting Children from Environmental Hazards with Environmental Health Clinic Medical Director Dr. Riina Bray and CPCHE Health Promoter Bethanne Currie.

Drs. Alison Bested and Lynn Marshall jointly presented a workshop Chronic Complex Conditions: Functional Assessment and Advocacy.

Drs. Annette Lorenz and Lynn Marshall collaborated on a workshop Taming Toxic Thoughts and Planning for Health with Chronic, Complex Conditions.

Launch of CPCHE First Steps in Lifelong Health: A Vision and Strategy for Children’s Health and Environment in Canada

Dr. Lynn Marshall will be speaking at both the Press Conference and the evening Forum, on behalf of EHI-Canada, the Ontario College of Family Physicians Environmental Health Committee, and the Environmental Health Clinic at Women’s College Hospital, all CPCHE partners.

Development of Accredited Courses in Clinical Hypnosis as a Tool in Assisting Self-management of Chronic Illnesses

Dr. Annette Lorenz is Chair and Dr. Lynn Marshall a Member of the Education Committee of the Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis-Ontario Division, which is steadily developing core curricula for Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced courses in Clinical Hypnosis for regulated healthcare professionals. This method is a useful addition to the toolbox of healthcare professionals to educate patients how to improve self-management of distressing symptoms such as pain and non-restorative sleep. Past courses have been approved by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for MAINPRO-M1 credits for physicians.

CHNET-Works! Webinar

Dr. Lynn Marshall presented a “Fireside Chat” entitled Why Children Are More Vulnerable to Environmental Contaminants with particular reference to the health impacts of climate change on children. Climate Change has been a theme for a series of cross-Canada webinars by the Community Health Network, sponsored by the Government of Ontario in partnership with the University of Ottawa Community Health Research Unit.
